Well I to qualify this review by saying we did not stay and have a full meal, we just picked out a pre-made cheesecake and ordered some lobster bisque to try. We ate the lobster bisque on the patio because it smelled so good we couldn't wait to get home to eat it. The lobster bisque was absolutely delicious and one of the best things I have had in a long time! Add in that it was a little cold and rainy out and it was perfect! Both of us groaned in delight with that first spoonful! It was so good, flavorful and thick and creamy... so good! The cheese cake was also just right! The perfect texture and flavor! I don't know when this place came to Ann Arbor but the next time I visit Michigan I am going back!

Came in at 10:15 am for brunch/lunch. Waited 15 minutes at front to be greeted. Cue crickets chirping. Staff seemed to be preoccupied with side work and other things. Could not be bothered with dealing with customers and I am a loyal pie club member! Had to go to counter to get a seat. No sign "wait here" or "seat yourself" so did not know the plan. Am still waiting at my table after 20 minutes. No menus, no server. Guess the staff is too busy for paying customers! Am leaving to eat somewhere else soon. Maybe they make their killing at lunch or dinner? Not impressed right now.

My company catered in lunch from GT Pie for our annual sales kick-off meeting. My first glance at the delivery of 80 or so lunch boxes had me thinking each person was going to have an entire pie for lunch... Good thing I was wrong! It was just the cute and unique packaging for their catered box lunches. I had the Chicken Pesto with Marinated Roasted Red Pepper lunch box with cherry pie. The sandwich was probably one of the best chicken pestos I've had in a long time. All the ingredients were fresh, including the crusty baguette, and the cherry pie was right up there with Heidi's in my hometown. Whenever I'm back in frigid Ann Arbor I'd hit it up again in a heartbeat.

The folks over at Grand Traverse have really stepped up for me in the past year. I can recall at least two situations where I needed a last minute caterer for about 10 people, and GTPC came to my rescue. This place gets a TON of orders for deliveries and catering, and so I recognize how they have gone out of their way to make sure I was taken care of in recent history. Do I need to mention how good the pie is? Just find out for yourself. If you're disappointed, check your pulse because you are not human. I would definitely recommend these guys to anyone looking for a fantastic lunch, catering, and a good local restaurant who epitomizes what it means to serve their local community....I told myself I wouldn't cry on my keyboard when writing this review {sniff sniff} I need to go now. Pie on, folks!

Eh... Coffee was decent, food (breakfast) was cheap but I'm going to be late for work... it's been about 20 minutes since I've ordered and there's really nobody here... I'm seriously contemplating leaving without my food cause I don't have any more time to sit here even though I haven't eaten yet this morning...

Had lunch there on Wednesday and again on Saturday. Good variety of sandwiches, salads and quiches to choose from, in addition to a wide assortment of baked goods. Food is tasty and fresh. Very comfortable space. Pleasant staff.

Grand Traverse Pie Company has been located next to my office in Dexter ever since I've worked there and I just recently visited this location for the first time! I am in love with their Cherry Chicken Salad and Mountain Berry Crumble Pie. You can taste how fresh their baked goods are, when I asked the manager Olivia about their selection, she was so helpful and gave me all the information I needed! I will be back here for lunch this week!

The proximity of the "Pie Company" to our home makes it a "go to" when time is of the essence or when family or friends are jumping on I-94 as was the case today. In this neighborhood, it serves as a great alternative to Panera for a quick, fresh and healthy sandwich. Our group of five filed in the door of this clean, contemporary eatery as we were tempted by the myriad of delicious pies behind glass. While ordering at the counter, one member of our family was disappointed to find out that the spinach and bacon quiche was still in the oven and wouldn't be ready for a while. A quick substitution was made and we went about our business grabbing a table. I was highly impressed, while waiting for our order to be prepared, to have Caitlin (or possibly Katelin) come over to our table and personally apologize for their inability to deliver an item on their menu. As a gesture of her appreciation for our patronage, she said she would provide a piece of the quiche when it came out of the oven "on the house". Now that is service! Thanks for taking charge and making an executive decision in the name of customer service. That is what keeps us coming back....excellent fresh food and outstanding service.

Why ever make pie again? Great selection of fruit and cream pies. The rice crispie treats are too expensive for what they are and I wish they'd leave off that awful icing crap. Other than that, I like the place for their pies. No clue about the food. I hear this location has a harpist in on Thursdays. Check it out.

Wow. No seriously, wow. I was heading to a different restaurant then made a wrong turn and ended up here. Very glad I did. I order the chicken pot pie and it was amazing. The pies, oh goodness the pies! So many flavors. I had the blueberry crumb and it was too good for words. I will be returning.

I hate to write anything not fabulous about this place because I love so many things. The pies, the service, the price but thechicken ceaser salad was not great, not bad but not up to par with the other food I have ordered here. Still love it though. Especially the harpist !

I try not to be overly critical, but I guess I can't not be. This is the first time I've eaten at this chain, and I had low expectations for the dinner, and high expectations for the pie. I mean, they have the word Pie in their name. My expectations and my reality were reversed. I had the Cuban grilled sandwich and was pleasantly happy with it. The options for sides were limited and I went with the blueberry applesauce. I didn't care for it. My father wanted the Shepard's Pot Pie, but they were out. He went with the beef instead. He liked it, but this is from a man who prefers canned food to fresh, his steaks well done, and eats so fast, I don't know if he tastes his food. My mother had a turkey sandwich, and had no complaints with it. She also didn't finish her blueberry applesauce. For dessert, dad had an apple, carmel, pecan dumpling, I think. It looked and sounded great, but that was their last one, and I was there for the pie. Mom got the blueberry, and I got the Mission City Cherry (I may have that name wrong, but it was the cherry, with no other fruits). We both felt like it was nothing special, not terrible, but nothing to boast about. And if that's how they always are, maybe change the name of the restaurant. I didn't ask what she didn't like, but mine wasn't balanced or something. I know cherries can be tart, and I expected some. But the tart was too tart, and the sweet was, well, it was good. But they should have been mixed better. I had bite after bite of tart, and then, picked around for some of the sweet to get the taste out of my mouth. Also the crust was blah. I'll definitely try them again, because the sandwich was good, and I want to see if either they or I was having an off day in the pie department.

Worse experience I have had in the Ann Arbor area. I don't say this lightly and I dont usually do restaurant reviews but in this case I felt I should. Migel the "store manager" is very rude, has zero customer relations experience/training. He needs to be fired or reduced back to the dishwasher. Also, either Migel did not give the store owner Dan my messages or he never returns calls when you leave messages for him. The day we decided to try this restaurant, it was a toss up between Panera Bread, the German restaurant next door, or Mcdonalds across the street. Next time, I would pick Mcdonalds over Grand Traverse Pie Company.

The pies here are wonderful! I've also eaten the sandwiches and they are worth the money.

The blackberry peach pie here is one of the best, hands down!! They have some awesome salads too!

You know, I'm not a fan of chains. This place, though, is pretty darn good. We tried the pie to start and instantly became hooked on the cherry cobbler. We moved onto sandwiches and were't instantly enamored until each finding one we love. For me, it's the chicken salad sandwich that is served on a croissant with cherries. Wow. Aside from pies, the desserts are nothing to write home about. The cookies are mediocre and the brownies and other cakey type sweets range from "meh," to sub par. The cream pies are amazing but super sweet. The food is okay but some of the sandwiches, especially the melts, are just over salted greasy, soggy, yuckiness.

I love the pies here. If you are going to have 'Pie Company' in your name you better deliver and boy do they deliver. I love apple pie. I have always loved it since I've been a kid and Grand Traverse makes the best apple dumpling pie. They do not always have it ready for per slice inside the restaurant but if they do make sure you get this. I did find out that if you know you would like to bring a pie to a friends house for desert you can call the day before hand and have them actually make any of the pies for you including the apple dumpling pie. The restaurant is fast food like. You wait in a line and you order at the register. The food was ok. Nothing to write home about but not bad either. We've really liked some of the items and other times we were glad they had pie. I am so glad that we are moving to Pittsfield township because I'm going to be so much closer to this pie haven.

This restaurant was so good! It was a nice place to stop (just off I94) on our way to Detroit. Between myself and my daughter we tried four dishes and two pies. The chicken salad with dried cherries was exceptional, as well as the Mediterranean Quiche and Tomato Bisque soup. The veggie half sandwich was very small - although plenty for me with the salad - my husband would have balked about the size. We tried the apple and peach crumb pies (the apple had a pecan and caramel topping!), both were very good but my dad said he thought the crust was a little too sweet for his taste (we had brought him the peach pie). The full pie was a little pricey ($14), but was a nice hostess gift to bring home to the parents (earning a few brownie points!).

Here now at the Zeeb Rd location with my child. Ordered the Tuna Salad sandwich, potato cream soup with Bacon, and chocolate cream pie. Lunch was delicious and was ready before I had paid for it.

Really enjoyed the Chocolate Cream Pie. My wife said the Cherry Pie was one of the best she had ever had. The eating area is very clean. Fresh flowers are the center piece at every table. Free WiFi. Beautiful fireplace.

Great place stop while going to or from Detroit. We stopped in on way back for dinner. Had the pot pies (one chicken and one Turkey) and they were great.

When I come here, it's been for a cup of coffee and a sandwich, or coffee and a slice of pie. The sandwiches are a bit on the rich side, and the pie is nice. The coffee is unlimited, and they have an unusual "Michigan Cherry" coffee that has a flavor that you will either like or won't like, there's no middle. I find that the wifi at this store is regularly unreliable, so it fails as a place to go where I need to sit down and work on Internet projects. It would get 4 stars if the wifi were just up to par with what's expected at a broad range of cafes that I'm used to going to.

This is THE ONLY reason I come to Michigan. Well, there is the fact that I have to visit my parents, but let me tell you, getting 6 (no joke!) pies for the decompression once I reach my own home works way better than alcohol. I buy 6 pies and live on them solely for about 4 days upon my return. While the crust, as mentioned earlier, could be improved, the fillings are good and god bless ANY store that will sell 6 freshly-baked pies. I don't care if the rest of the food is crap- it's about the PIE, people!!!!!

Great food and awesome pie! Wonderful salads, sandwiches and special pot pies. I had the au jus and the cherry crumble. Finished with a great cup of coffee. The interior was well designed and comfortable and they had outdoor seating. Free wi-fi too. Service was quick given that it was all fresh food. Pie was awesome and they didn't skimp on the ice cream. Highly recommend it if you are in the area.

Damn, the cherry pie with almond paste is delicious. I want to open a franchise, just so that I can eat cherry pies all day.

I stumbled across this place while I was tooling around the business district at Zeeb and Jackson and was intrigued. Though the name implies a restaurant full of pies, they do offer a wider variety of foods, ranging from quiches to sandwiches to soups and salads. I found $2.99 for a slice of pie to be a bit on the high side, but you can get a slice for $1.89 if you order it with an entree, and the price for whole pies is a considerably better bargain. Additionally, the quality of the food was good. I had a slice of rhubarb pie, and while it wasn't as good as my Mom's, it was pretty close. They usually put out some free samples of their baked goods as well. The most recent time I visited, it was blueberry muffin samples. The atmosphere is nice inside, and there's a small collection of tables and chairs outside. I saw people sitting and talking in groups as they ate or working on their laptops. They have free Wifi here, so it'd be a nice place to get a muffin and some coffee and get a little writing or paperwork done. There's no waiter service here. It's cafeteria style- you order at one end of the counter and pick your food up on a tray at the other end and bus your own table.

Very disappointing...sandwiches are often tasteless. Stick with the pies as dessert (they are great!) and go somewhere else for dinner.

I've only tried the pies, so I can't comment on the other food offered. Nutshell: Pie crust is quite flakey, good texture but lacks any butter flavor (hallmark of a superior pie crust) and was somewhat chewy where it hadn't been baked long enough. Still, way better than something made with the scary refrigerated dough from a grocery store. Cream and custard pies were better than the fruit pies due to greater amount of filling (I hate pies that are all crust...) We tried no-sugar cherry and blueberry pies and the filling was, I kid you not, one piece of fruit thick! The Cream and custard pie fillings (we've tried coconut, banana, vanilla/bavarian cream) were silky and delicious. Mmmm. Overall a decent place to visit when you have the hankering for a whole pie, don't have time to make your own, and don't want to pay for a Zingerman's pie. I don't think I'll be visiting again, but I also wouldn't dissuade other people from trying it - as perhaps they aren't as finicky as I am. The staff were very nice/good service so no issues there at all.

This is a great chain of restaurants. The pie slices are a bit small for what you get,but they are high quality and delicious, at least the various apple pies, and my personal favorite, the pecan pie. Sandwiches are pretty good, but the beef pot pies are really good. The Zeeb rd store has wifi and generously sized tables and booths. Plug-in spots for your laptop are somewhat limited, but I don't think a lot of folks know about the place. It's pretty empty in between the lunch rush and dinner.

This is the best one out of 3 other locations that I've been to. The food is made better here and is really fresh. The service is great too :)

If you like pie, then this is mecca. First, the selection of pies is staggering. (The only place like Grand Traverse Pie Company that I can think of is Baker's Square, which I don't think exist in Michigan.) Second, the service is incredibly helpful and friendly. This was surprising since a) we came in about 15 minutes before closing and b) I was taking my sweet time making a decision which pie slice to order. I was incredibly tempted to order the banana cream, but was gently persuaded against it since it had been cut earlier in the day and probably wasn't as fresh. Third, based on the pies that I tasted (Bailey's Chocolate Cream and some multi-berry pie), they were very tasty. The pies look homemade but taste like a lot of TLC went into them. They are not overwhelmingly sweet either, like many store bought pies. I guess they also serve paninis/sandwiches and some other items, which I heard are OK. Their pies seem to be their sweet spot. This is a nice place to go if you're hankering for some pie, but don't want to commit to a whole pie. For around $2-$3.30 per slice, I find it reasonable. The store itself is a bit reminscent of Panera -- spacious w/ ample seating, warm, and bright -- and may even have WiFi, seeming like a good place for a small group to gather or perhaps to study. All in all, I realy like this place (for the pies), and I look forward to going back to try out more.

great place for pie and baked goods! any of the crumb top pies are a must try! caprese salad and sandwhich are a must as well. the pot pies are wonderful and if you get their early try one of their fantastic quiches. the staff is friendly and helpful. for the most part this place is always clean. may get a little messy during their busy hours but its nothing awful. this isnt a waitress/waiter staff place, you walk up to the register and order and then they call your name over an intercom. they also do not bus the tables, but there are bus tubs at the garbage cans for your dishes. they have catering as well. and you can call a head to reserve a pie. if you and a group meeting for work or something similar to that you can call and reserve their backroom as well. i know they have had baby showers held there. please try this place. its a must!

My all time favorite sweet treat place! I actually have to go online and order occasionally when I miss the pies too much. The Cherry Crumble is my favorite. They are also a great place to go for lunch. I recently tried the chicken pot pie and even the nine year old with me had no complaints! The nice man at the counter even brought over a free scoop of ice cream for him. There are many locations around MI so check out the site if you want to find one closer to you.
